Things to Do in Batemans Bay

A paved 5-kilometre shared-use path following the river from the bridge to Batehaven. Flat route with benches, birdlife and kayak launch points along the way.

💡 Start at the Batemans Bay bridge end and head south around 3pm for shade and a chance to see stingrays gliding underneath the jetty.

A large lake-side park with a multi-age playground, grassy picnic areas and a 2-kilometre walking loop around Corrigans Lake. Bring binoculars for the black swans and spoonbills.

💡 The 'ninja warrior' style climbing structure is popular with older kids; arrive before 10am on weekends to claim a shaded table.

A volunteer-run local museum in the old council chambers with displays on Aboriginal heritage, oyster farming and the town's timber-milling past. Small but well-curated.

💡 Donations welcome; ask staff about the 1856 shipwreck display, which often has artefacts not on general view.

A small informational plaque at the foot of the bridge explaining the construction of the 1956 steel-truss bridge, plus a nearby concrete pylon from the original 1878 crossing. Takes five minutes to read.

💡 Combine with a walk to the northern side for a clear view of the old pylon; the marker often gets missed by visitors heading straight to the lookout.

A short walk from the northern end of Batemans Bay bridge gives panoramic views over the Clyde River estuary, Tollgate Islands and the coast. Seats at the top make it a good spot for a packed lunch.
