Interactive exhibits on local geology, including giant trilobite fossils and the famous ‘Pedra Parideira’ (birthing stones). Free but donations welcome.

Short 1.5km circular walk through forest to the famous split boulder that ‘gives birth’ to smaller rocks over centuries. Interpretive panels along the route.

💡 Best light for photos is late afternoon. The trail is steep in sections — wear sturdy shoes and bring water, especially in summer.

Grand 12th-century Cistercian monastery with a ornate Baroque church and peaceful cloisters. Entry is €3 but worth it for the restored refectory and pharmacy.

💡 Visit on the first Sunday of the month for free entry. The ticket also covers the small Sacred Art Museum upstairs.

8km wooden walkway along the Paiva River gorge with stunning cliffs, waterfalls and swimming spots. Costs €1 online booking fee per person but entry is free if you walk directly from Areinho (no booking needed).

💡 Skip the €12 guided route; instead access from Areinho car park (free) and walk the first 2km return for free views. Go early morning to avoid heat.
