Araripina 3-Day Itinerary

The main Catholic church of Araripina, built in the 1950s with a simple plaster exterior and painted wooden altar inside.

💡 Mass is on Sundays at 07:00 and 19:00. If you're not attending, visit on a weekday morning when it's quiet and the stained glass catches the sun.

Covered market selling fresh fruit, local cheese, handmade lace and inexpensive street food like tapioca and grilled meat.

💡 Get a 'pacoca' (peanut candy) from Dona Maria's stall near the back. It's about R$2 and genuinely good.

Small but well-kept museum with exhibits on local history, fossils from the Araripe Basin and artefacts from the cangaço era.

💡 Ask the attendant to show you the old photographs of the town in the back room. It's a 15-minute visit, but worth it for the layers of detail.

💡 Go late afternoon around 16:30 – the light is softer and there's often a breeze. Bring water, there's no shade up top.

Natural lagoon formed between rock formations, surrounded by caatinga vegetation. Popular for swimming and picnicking.

💡 Bring mosquito repellent and wear old trainers – the path down can be muddy after rain. No food vendors on site, so pack snacks.
